Marketing Worth Sharing & Workshop
All the marketing techniques in the world are no substitute for great story telling. Marketers can inspire “I’ll have what she’s having” moments with their audiences even when vastly outspent. Opportunities emerge with the willingness to challenge the status quo and question the rules of the game. Challenger thinking is a state of mind, not a state of market. It can be employed and encouraged by everyone in an organization. During this session, Tom will use cartoons, along with other consumer brand stories to share new ways to lead your organization with limited resources and a fresh mindset that enables even underdogs to inspire smart, focused growth.
Diversity + Inclusiveness
The ability to define, value and apply a Diversity and Inclusion Strategy to DMOs is unprecedented. Changes in people, culture and technology requires new thinking and cutting edge action. This session will engage DMO Leaders in an executive conversation and provide the build block to create a new model by defining what diversity and inclusion means to the local, national and international DMO marketplace. Attendees with also learn how to develop an Executive Business Strategy to meet the changing needs and identify initiatives to leverage diversity and inclusion by creating deeper relationships with customers, engaging employees and building innovative strategic partners.
Future Funding Scenarios
It's a troublingly familiar story; faced with supporting destination marketing or cutting services, local governments reduce or eliminate tourism investment – leaving DMOs scrambling to fill the gap. As an industry over the last two years, many DMOs have embraced a new language and are striving to ensure that local stakeholders understand that destination marketing is not an expense line-item, but are rather investment accounts for destinations, driving real dividends to local communities, governments, businesses and residents. In this session, John Lambeth, President & CEO of Civitas, will explore the establishment of Tourism Improvement Districts (TIDs) now utilized in over 100 destinations. John is one of the foremost experts in establishing criteria, stakeholder support and legislation that DMOs need to establish TIDs.
